Laminators see less daily use than most other office equipment discussed here, but the heat-based process they rely on introduces its own specific maintenance needs that differ meaningfully from mechanical devices like printers or shredders.
Why Laminators Need Servicing
Laminators Service and Maintenance centers primarily around the heating elements and rollers responsible for bonding laminate film to documents. Over time, adhesive residue from laminate film can build up on internal rollers, affecting how smoothly documents feed through and how evenly the finished lamination bonds. Heating elements can also drift out of calibration, resulting in lamination that's either too loosely bonded or, in more extreme cases, scorched from excessive heat.
What a Maintenance Visit Covers
A proper service visit includes cleaning adhesive residue from internal rollers, checking heating element calibration against the unit's rated temperature settings, and testing the feed mechanism to confirm documents pass through evenly without pulling to one side or jamming partway through the lamination process.
Signs Your Laminator Needs Servicing
Laminated documents coming out with bubbles or uneven bonding, a noticeable smell of overheating adhesive during operation, or documents feeding at an angle rather than straight through the rollers are all signs pointing toward overdue maintenance rather than a fault with the laminate film itself.
Maintenance for Frequently Used Units
Offices producing laminated materials regularly — ID cards, signage, or frequently updated notices — benefit from more consistent servicing intervals than laminators used only occasionally, since roller residue buildup accelerates with more frequent use.
